John Rivers speaks about South Oroville African Ameican Historical Society (SOAAHS)

The South Oroville African American Historical Society was founded in 2008 and since that time they have obtained land for their envisioned community center.  In this interview John Rivers, the society's president, speaks about the importance of maintaining cultural traditions, and working with youth so they will develop optimism that will help them recognize and achieve their goals.  John is now feeling some optimism that the center will be built. They have partnered with a research firm that will work throughout the United States to obtain construction funds.
