Heather Tovey with Butte County Library Literacy Services

One of the principal projects offered by Butte County Library Literacy Services is their program that helps adults who struggle with reading and writing.  Trained tutors meet at the library with adults registered in this  program in "one on one" sessions designed to improve reading and writing skills.  The  Literacy Service also travels on the road in their Literacy Coach visiting "0 to 5 year olds" and they provide a partners and learners after school program.  Volunteers are solicited to become tutors in the adult literacy program--the next tutor training program will be held at the Oroville Library on July 9.  People seeking literacy assistance or information on becoming involved with the literacy program or being trained as a tutor or more information about the literacy services may phone their direct line at 1-888-538-7198 or (530)538-7198.  This program is offered at all 5 Butte County libraries.
