CASA is Court Appointed Special Advocates, an organization providing court appointed advocates who are trained officers of the court, serving children in the foster care system, representing them in court. CASA exists in all 50 states, the Butte and Glenn Counties CASA trainees serve under Northern Valley Catholic Social Services. CASA volunteers come from all walks of life, serving children from the ages of 6 weeks to 24 years, giving the children a voice in the court and in their lives. The CASA goal is to have the child returned home, while always considering the child's best interest. There will be a training program for people interested in becoming CASA volunteers beginning September 19, with an introductory meeting scheduled on September 7.
